April 1, 2004 - Today's visit was suppose to have just been to check my blood pressure and see how my medicine was working for me. But, since I was 17 weeks and far enough along for the blood tests, we went ahead and did all that. So I don't go back in April 12, I go back April 29, for my ultrasound!! I can't wait!

I just went ahead and took Heaven with me without my mom this time, since it was suppose to have been just for my blood pressure. She was a good girl for me. When the nurse called me back she told me to go on to the bathroom, I didn't think I'd need to for my blood pressure, but I did. Then after she weighed me, she said they'd be doing the blood work today. I told her I thought I was just coming to have my blood pressure checked, but if we could move the checkup for April 12 to then that would be wonderful. She checked to see how far along I was (17 weeks) and said we could. Thank God! Saved me a trip! She took my blood pressure and told me my top number was still a little high. then sent me out to the second waiting room to wait for the lady to call me to draw my blood. After she drew my blood I had to wait for the nurse to call me into a room. I'm glad she called me when she did, there was a lady with a VERY loud 2 yr old, he was starting to get on my AND Heaven's nerves!

We went into the room to wait on Dr. Garrard. Heaven actually behaved in there too. She wanted out of the stroller once and I stood her up in my lap to look out the window at all the cars. His office is on the third floor so she loves to look out the windows. Then she wanted back in her stroller to eat her graham crackers. Dr. Garrard came in and spoke to her a minute then asked me how I've been feeling. I told him I've been feeling wonderful except for severe headaches that I have almost every day. He asked me if I've ever had migrains before, I told him yes, I've had them since I was about 8 year old. He gave me something for them and a new prescription for my blood pressure because it was still a little high. My dose is now doubled. I was taking 250 mg of Methyldopa four times a day, now I'm taking 500 mg four times a day.

Then we got to the good part of the visit, getting to listen to the baby's heartbeat! This one's just as stubborn as Heaven was, Dr. Garrard actually has to search for it's heartbeat! I asked him if the doppler he uses gives the heart rate, but it doesn't. Heaven got to hear the heartbeat too, he held it over toward her so she could hear it better, you should have seen her eyes!

Well, we left the doctor's office and I went to where my Daddy works to visit with him for a minute. I hadn't had a chance to tell him about the baby because he's almost impossible to catch up with, he's always gone! I got there and didn't see his truck, I went in anyway and Eva (one of the lady's that works in the office) said he wasn't there. She wanted to visit with Heaven for a minute anyway. She has a daughter, Erica, who's almost the exact same age as Heaven, so we compare what they're doing and how big they are. Eva let me use the phone to call my Daddy's cell phone to see when he'd be back, he said about 30-45 minutes. So I went over to my Mom's house to visit with her while I waited. She only lives about 5 minutes from where my Daddy works.

We got over to my Mom's and told her about my appointment. She took Heaven outside to ride in the wagon while we waited for my sister, Tiffany, to get home from school. They played a while and I had to almost FORCE my Mom to get out of the van so we could leave again, LoL.

When we pulled up at my Daddy's work again he was outside loading some stuff in a truck so we just went over to him from there. He took Heaven and was talking to her and showing her off, as usual. After everyone else walked off, I asked him if he was ready for another one (grandchild). He looked at me, "Another one...?" Not as if he wasn't happy about it, just to make sure he heard right. I laughed and said yes. He just smiled SO big and hugged me, I think I made his whole day. Then he asked Heaven if she was going to have a baby brother, Heaven told him yes. The last time I saw him so happy was when I told him about being pregnant with Heaven and when he came to the hospital to see her! It made me feel SO good to know he was happy about it. Then he started talking about all the things he'd be doing with his grandson, LoL, we don't even know WHAT the sex is yet! Daddy doesn't have any boys, only two girls, so I know he wants a grandson really bad. Well we walked back to Daddy's office and he had to stop everyone he saw on the way and show them his granddaughter and tell them he was going to be a grandpa times two. We stayed about 30 minutes and talked with him, then he had to get back to work.

Wow, that was a long one, huh? Some of them will be just as long and some will be pretty short. I just felt like writing today! My next visit is April 29, and it will be my ultrasound!!

April 22, 2004 - Well, I've been back to the doctor a couple more times because of my blood pressure. We've been having trouble getting the dosage right on my medicine. On 250 mg four times a day it was still pretty high (151/83 last I checked on that dose). And on 500 mg four times a day it was way too low, I couldn't even walk 30 feet without feeling like I was going to pass out. This started RIGHT after he put me on that dose. Well, I lowered it to 1 1/2 of the 250mg (making it 375mg) four times a day. I felt a LOT better, but it turns out that my blood pressure was STILL too low (98/60). So my doctor put me BACK on the 250mg four times a day and it got too high again (that's when I took it and it was 151/83). Well, I called them back and let them know it was high. Dr. Garrard told the nurse to put me back on 500mg four times a day, which I can't do! So I had to wind up waiting FIVE hours for an answer on the dosage! Finally he said to take 375 mg three times a day. So far I feel pretty good with it like this, but I haven't had a chance to have my blood pressure taken yet.

Some days the baby moves a good bit, like tonight. And some days he/she barely moves any. I've enjoyed all the movement I've felt tonight, I just wish it were like that more often!

William still hasn't told his parents yet, sometimes I think he'd be fine waitng until the baby was born! He says he's going to tell them after the ultrasound. Well, I guess the next time I update will be with pictures, and hopefully the sex of the baby!!

April 29, 2004 - That was the most unsatisfying ultrasound I've had! First of all the other tech did it, not the one who did both of Heaven's. Barbara (the one who did Heaven's) is very nice and tries to make sure you see every baby part possible and tells you what they are, tells you what she's measuring and all. Amy (the other one) doesn't! She barely told us what ANYTHING was and we only got two not so good pictures! Barbara gives FOUR pictures. LoL, ok, enough complaining. We didn't get to find out the sex of the baby, it had it's foot under it's butt. But we go for another one in a month!

Well, with all that said, we also changed the due date! Everything measured as 18 wks, not 21 wks. So our new due date is September 25, 2004. RIGHT with all of his/her cousins, LoL. All of William's nephews except one have September/October birthdays! Oh well, what's one more??

My blood pressure was pretty good this visit, so maybe we've gotten everything right! It was 136/82.

Oh! Another thing about the ultrasound! William's not allowed to go with me to another one!! Every time he's there the baby refuses to show it's parts, LoL! For Heaven's first ultrasound he was with us, she wouldn't let us see, and the same thing happened with this one!

My next visit is May 27, I have to have that yucky gestational diabetes test.....lucky me. My mom will have to go with me because Heaven is NOT going to like being there that long. I'd consider leaving Heaven at her house, but I dunno...I don't want to be by myself for the ultrasound! And I have yet to leave her with ANYONE other than her Daddy! I don't remember when I got my Rhogam shot with Heaven...somewhere around 20 something weeks is all I can remember.

Well, here's what I'm sure, EVERYONE'S been wanting to see, LoL, the pictures! Click on them to view full size
